PRACTICE SECTION 11 | The Art of Stillness and Contemplation

PRACTICE SECTION 11 | The Art of Stillness and Contemplation

Stillness and contemplation consist of two distinct levels of practice:

I. Daily Reflection and Reference

Before sleeping each night, spend a few minutes sitting in silence to calm your mind. This can also be done whenever you face emotional turbulence or frustration.

  • The Method: Find a quiet place, visualize Jesus, and focus on the scriptures that have deeply moved you. Use these as a divine "reference frame" to reflect upon your behavior, the events of the day, and your emotional responses.

II. Deep Contemplation: Dwelling in the Presence

This second level is similar to Zen meditation but centers on the visualization of God and silent prayer in the Name of Jesus.

  • The Method: As you sit, observe your thoughts as they arise and fade. Gradually anchor all your focus on the visualization of Christ, continuously praying in His name.
  • The Experience: Over time, the distinction between "self" and "object" vanishes. You enter a state where you are truly "at one with Jesus." The awareness of your body and the passage of time will dissipate.
  • The Purpose: This practice solidifies your faith. It reveals that the "Ego" is an illusion, helping you escape from the "discriminating mind" and the control of darkness. You move from the prison of the self into the freedom of God.
