05 | The Physical World: The Projection of the Logos in the Three-Dimensional Realm
In our first four doctrines, we have laid a complete foundation:
- 01 | Light is the cosmic structure.
- 02 | Language cannot describe the Divine Essence.
- 03 | God is the Essence; the Logos is His manifestation in the world.
- 04 | Life is the Spirit breathed by God, not merely the flesh.
Naturally, the fifth doctrine presents a fundamental proposition: Since both life and the Logos proceed from God, what, then, is the "Universe" itself? The answer from Holy Scripture is crystalline: The physical world is not self-existent; it is the manifestation and projection of the Logos within the three-dimensional realm.
We shall unfold this through four layers:
I. The Physical Universe is Not an Ontological Reality, but a Structure Projected by the Divine Will
Holy Scripture begins with the declaration: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Gen 1:1). The word "created" (bara) here implies more than the mere manufacture of materials; it speaks of "causing something to emerge into order."
This announces a fundamental stance:
- The universe did not originate in matter, but in Will.
- The structure of the universe originates in the Will of God, not within matter itself.
Deep within its structure, contemporary physics echoes this:
- Quantum fields may be understood as informational structures.
- Space is a flexible geometric framework, not an absolute container.
- Matter is not an isolated entity, but the result of wave function collapse.
- All particles depend upon the "Field" rather than being self-sufficient.
In theological terms: The universe is the projection of the Divine Will within the physical dimension. Therefore, the physical world is not the ultimate Reality; it is but a shadow of a Higher Reality. The universe is not the Essence; God is the Essence.
II. The "Logos" is Not Matter, but All Matter Proceeds from the "Logos"
The Gospel of John reveals the deepest architecture of the cosmos in a single sentence: “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made” (John 1:3).
The logic is strikingly clear:
- All things $\neq$ Self-generated.
- All things $\neq$ Self-sufficient existence.
- All things = The result of the mechanism of the Logos being unfolded.
In other words, the myriad things of the universe are the partial projections of God's Logos in the physical world. More precisely:
- The Logos is the source-code of the universe;
- The Physical World is the rendering of that program in three dimensions.
In the language of science: The universe is a mathematical structure; matter is the condensation of information ("It from bit"); and natural laws are computable logical structures.
III. The Three-Dimensional World is But a Partial Manifestation of the "Logos," Not the Entirety of God
Holy Scripture consistently emphasizes one truth: The true dimension of God far exceeds what the world can contain. Solomon cried: “Behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee” (1 Kings 8:27). St. Paul wrote: “For now we see through a glass, darkly” (1 Cor 13:12).
This indicates that the world we see is not the "Whole Reality," but a projection of that Reality. Structurally, we may understand the relationship as follows:
- The Logos is not the Divine Essence; it is the manifestation of God in a dualistic world.
- The World is not the Divine Essence; it is the further manifestation of the "Logos" in the physical dimension.
We may present this relationship in a hierarchy:
God (The Essence)
$\downarrow$
The Logos (God’s Order, Logic, and Law, projected outward)
$\downarrow$
The Universe (The local manifestation of the Logos, structured)
$\downarrow$
Matter (The lowest density of expression in three dimensions)
IV. The Purpose of the Physical World: A Spacetime Classroom for Learning the Logos
If the universe is a projection, what is its purpose? Jesus said: “Consider the lilies how they grow” (Luke 12:27). St. Paul wrote: “For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things” (Rom 11:36).
Holy Scripture never regards the universe as the "final end." On the contrary, it describes the cosmos as a field that carries spiritual life, allowing man to learn of and recognize God. We may summarize this with a simple analogy:
- The Universe is the classroom;
- Life is the student;
- The Logos is the curriculum;
- God is the Essence;
- The Three-Dimensional World is the manifestation layer;
- Spirituality is the ultimate goal.
The physical world is not the destination; it is a journey and a stage on the path back to God.
Summary | Original Doctrine 05
- The universe is not self-existent, but a structure projected by the Divine Will. The physical world is not the Essence; God is the Essence.
- The Logos is the source-code of the universe, and all things are Its manifestation. "Without him was not any thing made."
- The three-dimensional world is but a local projection of the Logos, not the whole of God. God transcends the Logos, and the Logos transcends the world.
- The physical world is a realm of "spiritual education," allowing man to learn the Logos and know God. The world is not the end, but the path—a spacetime classroom leading us back to the Essence.
