06 | Eden: The Human Archetype in the Spiritual Dimension

This thesis addresses three fundamental inquiries: — Did the human origin begin within the material world? — What was the nature of the "bodies" of Adam and Eve? — Does Eden belong to the physical universe or the spiritual dimension?

The overarching structure of Scripture points toward a singular, luminous answer: Eden is not a province of the material universe; Adam and Eve, in the beginning, were not "three-dimensional flesh," but spiritual beings dwelling in the immediate presence of God.

We shall unfold this through four distinct layers.

I. Eden is Not a Geographical Coordinate, but the "Domain of Divine Presence"

Genesis never provides a precise geographical coordinate for Eden—no longitudes, no latitudes, no three-dimensional scales, nor any "ecosystem description" in the modern sense. What it explicitly mentions, however, is a series of "supra-material" realities:

  • The manifestation and "walking" of God within the Garden.
  • The Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
  • The Cherubim and the Flaming Sword.
  • The spiritual order of entry and egress.

These elements exceed the capacity of a three-dimensional physical world. Other scriptures reinforce this: "The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain You" (1 Kings 8:27); "God dwells in unapproachable light" (1 Timothy 6:16). Since Eden is where God walks with man, and God cannot be confined by material space, the most reasonable conclusion is this: Eden belongs to the Shekinah Realm. Though it possesses a "location" relative to Earth, it does not occupy Earth’s space. It is a field where the Creator communes with created spirits—not a three-dimensional space composed of particles.

To interpret this through modern science: certain regions in our physical world interface with higher dimensions. It appears to occupy a specific area, yet it does not reside within our physical "space-time." This mirrors the Taoist description of Mount Kunlun: it is a mountain on Earth, yet one cannot find its inner sanctum by mere travel, for it possesses a region that connects with other dimensions.

Imagine a book standing vertically upon a table. The edge where the book meets the table appears to exist on the two-dimensional surface, yet it truly belongs to the three-dimensional space of the book. Similarly, Eden has a recorded physical location, yet it does not share our space-time. Eden is a high-dimensional spiritual field, not a physical orchard on the globe.

II. Adam and Eve Originally Possessed Bodies, but they were "Luminous Bodies" Governed by Spirit

St. Paul offers a crucial ontological distinction: "If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body" (1 Cor 15:44). He further notes: "The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual" (15:46).

In the "empirical world after the Fall," this is true: we experience the flesh before spiritual awakening. But as a structural clue for Genesis, it points to a deeper fact: the "spiritual body" and the "natural body" are different modes of existence. The "Man" of the Edenic stage was not a three-dimensional body of flesh, but a quantum-state body—an entanglement of spirit and form. It did not require a constitution of genes, cells, or particles.

By contemporary physical analogy:

  • Spirit-body = A non-particulate existence (similar to a quantum state, unbound by spatial locality).
  • Unfallen Humanity = A "Luminous Body" mastered by spirit—possessing self-awareness, relationship, and will, yet existing in a quantum-like state.

Thus, in Eden, man was first created as a Spiritual Entity—as Light—possessing a complete identity without the limitations of earthly flesh. The physical body (Sarkikos) is the "tunic of skin" formed after the spiritual collapse. In Genesis 3:21, God clothes them in "skins"—which, in Kabbalistic tradition, is understood as the "Luminous Body" being encased within "Biological Flesh." The tunic of skin is simply the state of three-dimensional physical limitation.

III. How did God "Walk" with Man?—Because Both Occupied the Spiritual Dimension

If God transcends the material universe, how did He "walk" or "speak" with man? The answer is not that God "descended" into a three-dimensional fleshly form, but that Man had not yet fallen into the three-dimensional material order.

  • Eden itself was a spiritual dimension.
  • Man existed in a "quantum-like" body governed by spirit.
  • The Divine Presence met man without needing to "enter" the material realm.

"The sound of the Lord God walking in the garden" (Gen 3:8) was not the sound of shoes striking pebbles; it was the Presence of God being experienced and perceived within the spiritual dimension. It was the communion of Being with Being, not the contact of two material objects.

IV. The Structure of Eden: The "Pre-Collapse" State from High Dimension to 3D

We may synthesize these clues into a unified picture:

  • Eden = A high-dimensional spiritual domain (non-local realm).
  • Man = A non-particulate spiritual existence (quantum-like being).
  • Walking with God = The ontological encounter of spirits.

Before the Fall, there was:

  • No death (Unconstrained by entropy).
  • No material boundaries (Non-local; not limited by space).
  • No dualistic opposition (No fracture of "Self vs. Other").
  • No physical cycle of birth, aging, sickness, and death.

Summary | Original Doctrine 06 The origin of humanity is not of the Earth, nor of the three-dimensional flesh. We began in a spiritual domain—Eden—dwelling with God. Man’s original "body" was a Spiritual Body, not mere material flesh.
