29 | "Follow Me": a Shift from Separation to Unity
Jesus continually said: "Follow me." He did not say: "Become harder-working, more moral, or more perfect." His call is not directed toward "behavioral correction," but toward restoring the human consciousness from a structure of separation, ego, and fear back to its original state of unity with God.
I. A Restoration of Consciousness Structure, Not an Ethical Requirement
Following the Fall, the human life shifted from Unity with God to Separation, from Rest in Love to Struggling in Fear, and from being God-centered to being Ego-centered. The problem Jesus addresses is never just: "How many mistakes have you made?" Rather, He seeks to heal:
- The veiled heart (renewal of mind).
- The severed spirit (connection to the Holy Spirit).
- The consciousness occupied by fear ("Do not be afraid").
- The life dominated by the Self ("Deny yourself and follow Me"). To "Follow Me" is to allow our life to operate once again according to His structure of consciousness.
II. Abdicating Ego-Consciousness for Sonship-Consciousness
The core of Ego-consciousness is the belief that one must rely entirely on oneself, maintain absolute control, engage in constant comparison, and live in perpetual scarcity. Jesus brings us into "Sonship-Consciousness":
- Knowing one is loved by the Father.
- Believing the Heavenly Father is responsible for provision and guidance.
- Relinquishing the need to prove oneself through control or superiority.
- Living in true freedom through the act of letting go. "Follow Me" is not about mimicking movements behind His back; it is about entering the same relationship He has with the Father: "I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you" (John 14:20).
III. Rising from the Consciousness of Separation to Unity
The consciousness of separation constantly whispers: "I am opposed to the world," "I can only rely on myself," and "If I do not grasp, I will lose." Jesus invites us into Unity-Consciousness:
- Recognizing that all life is interconnected in God.
- Knowing that every good thing flows from the Father.
- Understanding that true security comes from the relationship with God, not from controlling the environment. To "Follow Me" is to move from the "Orphan Consciousness" to the "Sonship Consciousness"—from self-reliance back to Grace.
IV. Not Greater Effort, but Abdicating the Self for Grace
Jesus never demanded His disciples to "try harder and become better." Instead, He said:
- "Remain in me."
- "Don’t be afraid; just believe."
- "Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness." When one is willing to let the Ego abdicate, the Holy Spirit has space to move, and Grace naturally begins its work. The essence of following is the transition from the rigid control of the Self back to a state of soft trust and flow.
Summary | Original Doctrine 29
- "Follow Me" is an invitation to return from the consciousness of separation to unity with God, not a moral command.
- Jesus heals the veiled heart and the severed spirit, rather than fixing individual behaviors.
- To follow Jesus is to move from the "Orphan Consciousness" of the Ego to the "Sonship Consciousness" of being loved by the Father.
- When the Ego abdicates, the Holy Spirit finds space to operate, and Grace begins to work.
- Following Jesus means allowing life to re-align and flow within Him, rather than trying to improve the "old self."
The Final Word: Following Jesus is not a distance to be shortened, but a frequency to be synchronized. It is the end of striving and the beginning of being led Home.
