52|Right View: The Fivefold Inner State of a Christian
Jesus said: “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart.” (Matthew 12:35). He also said: “Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.” (Matthew 7:20).
Therefore: the root of a Christian’s fruit is in the heart; behavior is merely the inevitable projection of a changed heart. When one truly enters the heart of Grace, they will gradually develop five types of "Right View Mindsets." These five mindsets align perfectly with the Scriptures and the fruit of the Spirit, serving as hallmarks of a mature internal life.
(1) All Things Work for Good: Everything is God’s Arrangement
When the heart is renewed by the Gospel, one's perspective on the world undergoes a fundamental shift:
- All events occur within God’s permission and arrangement;
- Things not yet understood are God’s preparation and protection;
- Attachment and grasping gradually loosen, shifting into a state of "becoming blessed."
This is what Paul said: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.” (Romans 8:28). From attachment to letting go, and then to seeing God’s hand—this is the first great fruit of the Spirit’s work in the heart.
(2) No One Has Truly Wronged Me: Seeing the Plank in My Own Eye First
The second fruit is the realization: “I find that no one has truly wronged me.” This is not self-suppression, but the lived practice of the Sermon on the Mount: “First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly.” (Matthew 7:5). This mindset includes:
- Knowing that in every event, there is a part for me to reflect upon and learn from;
- Realizing that the attacks or misunderstandings of others stem from their own limitations and wounds;
- Believing that all people and events can ultimately be used by God to renew my life. Therefore, no one truly "owes" me; rather, they all become my teachers. This is a level few reach, yet it is a clear mirror of one's true faith.
(3) Unexpected Events = Trial, Preparation, and Cleansing, Not Obstruction
The third fruit is a reinterpretation of "accidents": “Things beyond my control are either a trial, a preparation, or a cleansing.” This aligns fully with the Apostolic teachings:
- Trials refine faith like gold in the fire (1 Peter 1:7);
- Suffering produces perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3–4);
- God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in His holiness (Hebrews 12:6–11). Unexpected events are not the malice of fate, but the Sculptor’s chisel in God’s hand.
(4) Peace Amidst Grievance and Sacrifice: Viewing Life through Eternity
The fourth fruit is a new perspective on being "wronged": “There is no injustice in this world that is unbearable.” The reasons are:
- A Christian’s life is placed on the scale of Eternity (John 3:16);
- Justice will ultimately be revealed; not a single thing is overlooked;
- No one can escape the consequences of evil, and no act of goodness will be erased;
- Our current troubles are "light and momentary" compared to eternal glory (2 Corinthians 4:17). True judgment is in God’s hands, allowing for peace in the face of earthly injustice.
(5) Constant Joy and Gratitude: Knowing One Received Far More Than Deserved
The fifth fruit is a persistent internal feeling: “I often feel deeply happy and grateful, knowing that what I have received far exceeds what I deserve.” This is a core manifestation of the Spirit’s fruit (Galatians 5:22). This joy is not because circumstances are perfect, but because the heart knows:
- I am already living in Grace;
- Many things are "unearned gifts" given freely;
- I am, in truth, constantly Over-loved. This is the direct evidence of "on earth as in heaven."
