How to Spread the Gospel:Not Just Preach Doctrines

How to Spread the Gospel:Not Just Preach Doctrines

Scripture records: “Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness.” (Matthew 9:35). Jesus never relied solely on "preaching doctrines" to spread the Gospel; instead, He first resolved people’s suffering and then led them into the Truth.

This article reveals:

  • Why spreading the Gospel cannot be limited to theology;
  • Why Jesus’ teachings were always accompanied by "problem-solving";
  • How to use "New Miracles" to become fishers of men in today's world.

(1) Jesus’ Way of Spreading the Gospel: Touching Pain First, Before Teaching Doctrine

Jesus proclaimed that "the Kingdom of heaven is near," but His actions never remained verbal alone:

  • He cast out demons—liberating people from fear and spiritual bondage;
  • He healed the sick—alleviating physical pain;
  • He fed the multitudes—resolving real scarcity;
  • He made the blind see and the lame walk—restoring dignity and life-capability;
  • He ensured the widow's oil did not run dry—soothing distress and poverty. Jesus knew clearly: only when pain is truly touched and released will a person truly open their heart to hear the Good News of the Kingdom. The Gospel is called "Good News" because it tangibly changes a person’s situation and life.

(2) To Win People, One Must Give "Practical Benefit," Not Abstract Concepts

Jesus said personally: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” (John 10:10). The Gospel is not an exquisite philosophy, but a power that flips life, living, and destiny. A person is not won to God by losing an argument; they are won to God by being loved, blessed, and healed.

  • To a blind man, you cannot merely explain "visual theory"; you must make him see.
  • To a demon-possessed man, no amount of theology will save him; you must release him.
  • To a hungry man, lofty metaphysical talk is useless; you must feed him first. Jesus’ path is always: Grace first, Truth second.

(3) Today’s "Exorcism, Healing, and Endless Oil" Are the New Entrances to the Gospel

People today may lack the plagues and famines of old, but they have new sufferings:

  • Wealth Anxiety: Income, debt, unemployment, bankruptcy, and the pressure of supporting a family;
  • Psychological Illness: Anxiety, depression, panic, emptiness, and addiction;
  • Broken Relationships: Torn marriages, parent-child conflicts, and lonely isolation;
  • Physical Sub-health: Insomnia, exhaustion, and chronic stress;
  • Existential Void: A sense of meaninglessness, world-weariness, and losing one's direction. These are the new demons, the new diseases, the new famines, and the new blindness. Spreading the Gospel today means:
  • Helping people reconstruct a healthy wealth structure;
  • Helping people walk out of anxiety and depression;
  • Helping people repair marriages, parenting, and intimate relationships;
  • Helping people restore the rhythm of life and physical order;
  • Helping people see the meaning and calling of life. Every real act of help we perform for others is spiritually equivalent to a New Miracle, a new healing, and a new "feeding of the five thousand." For the essence of a miracle is not dazzling supernaturalism, but the real operation of God’s love in reality.

(4) True Gospel Transmission: A Heart Touched + A Life Changed = Natural Following

Jesus said: “I will send you out to fish for people.” (Matthew 4:19). Thus, He first let Simon catch a full net of fish. Only then did Simon leave his nets and follow the Lord. "Fishing for people" means letting others see the grace and power upon you, naturally generating a desire of "I want that too." It is not through coercion, debate, or threats of judgment, but:

  • You make their life better;
  • You touched their pain;
  • You gave them real hope;
  • You let them experience being loved and respected;
  • They see: those who follow God live out a new state of life. At that moment, they will actively ask: "Why do you have this power?" "How did you walk out of that?" "I want a life like this too." Then, you simply say: "It is not that I am so good, but the grace of Jesus Christ in my life." This is true evangelism.

Summary|Original Doctrine 64

  1. The core of Jesus' evangelism was solving real pain, not winning arguments.
  2. Without practical love, people will not truly open their hearts.
  3. Modern anxiety, depression, and broken relationships are the "diseases and demons" of today.
  4. Helping others out of distress is performing a miracle and spreading the Gospel.
  5. Winning people is not a victory of debate, but a victory of Grace.

In one sentence: True Gospel must make a person truly better; without grace and practical blessing, there is no Gospel.
