Chapter 12 | The First Step: The Act of Surrender and Affiliation
Before we dissect the mechanics of our first step, I must recount a true story—a narrative that serves as a vital bridge for understanding why we must commence our journey with faith in Jesus Christ.
Let us call our protagonist "A."
A began his existence in the most barren of landscapes. An orphan from birth, he moved through a world defined by cold indifference and systemic scarcity. By the age of fifteen, he was still clawing for survival at the very base of the social pyramid. His labors bore no fruit; he was distrusted by others and, more lethally, he distrusted himself. Rejection and insignificance were the rhythms of his days. Because he was born with nothing, he lacked the audacity to even desire "something."
Then, by a stroke of apparent chance, A encountered a fragment of information that would shatter his perceived reality: A rumor suggested that he was, in fact, the biological son of the city’s wealthiest magnate.
The drama intensified: this magnate had no other sons, only daughters. This meant that A was potentially the sole male heir to a colossal empire.
This revelation was not public; it was a secret whispered in the corridors of power. When A eventually confirmed the veracity of this claim through a trusted source, his internal universe suffered a total inversion. He realized he was not a "nobody" from "nowhere." He had a lineage; he had a Father of immense resources.
Observe closely: his external circumstances remained identical. He still occupied the same room; his pockets were still empty. His father had not yet acknowledged him, nor had a single cent been transferred to his account. Yet, the "Cognitive Structure of Identity" had been rewritten. He began to face the world with an entirely different posture.
When met with hardship, he no longer recoiled in self-deprecation. Instead, he whispered to his own soul: "I am not alone. There is a great power behind me."
This subtle internal shift acted as a master key. In interviews, he no longer projected the scent of desperation, and the world—sensing his new-found gravity—began to offer him opportunities. Eventually, A did not just find a job; he founded a company, becoming a formidable entrepreneur. More profoundly, his character underwent a metamorphosis: he became capable of intimacy and love, accepting the very things he once believed he was "unworthy" to hold.
This story is not about the acquisition of gold, but the Reconstruction of Interior Architecture. A received no material support, but the mere knowledge of being "upheld" granted him a new potency.
The Essence of Affiliation
For each of us, the act of turning to Jesus is not a mere religious formality; it is a profound psychological and spiritual revolution.
When we align ourselves with Christ, we undergo the same transition as A: we cease to be orphans and become sons and daughters. We find a Father who is the very Source of Being, an anchor for the soul. Regardless of our broken lineages or the scars of our past, the moment we believe, we are no longer solitary. We possess a Father who supports us with an infinite constancy.
This sense of being "Upheld" is the bedrock of Divine Success.
We dare to pursue greatness not because of our own cleverness or wit, but because we know that behind us stands a Power that cannot be shaken.
Surrendering to Jesus is the starting point of the entire trajectory. Just as A moved from being an ignored waif to a confident leader, each of us can reclaim our strength within this "New Relationship," breaking through the barriers of our old destiny and ascending to a new level of existence.
