Section 1 | General Theory on Methods to Sustain Belief

Therefore, believing is the most difficult task. Yet, belief is precisely the cornerstone of the entire Divine Success Study.

How do we sustain long-term belief?

In fact, Jesus has already given an extremely clear answer in the Bible:

"If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." This sentence contains several core points, which I explain one by one as follows:

1. "If you remain in me"—This is the most important phrase

The core meaning of this sentence is:

We must be present with God at all times; we must leave the control of the old subconscious and dwell within the consciousness of Jesus. We cannot modify the subconscious by relying on our own strength; but we can choose to enter Jesus's consciousness, allowing His Grace to reversely update us.

In other words:

We cannot change ourselves directly, but we can place ourselves in the position of the One who can change us. This is the true meaning of "remaining in me."

2. "My words remain in you"—Keep the words of Jesus in your heart

This does not mean occasionally reading the Bible.

Instead, it means:

Reading frequently and mindfully, storing Jesus's words in your heart so they become your thought background, emotional background, and judgment background. It is about making Jesus's words a "resident consciousness."

It is not about memorizing a sentence, but letting that sentence enter your life system.

Only then will the subconscious be gradually updated invisibly.

3. "Whatever you wish"—Prayer must align with the inner heart

The emphasis here is on "wish" (willingness).

Praying is not the same as being willing.

Sometimes, we pray for something, but deep down, we are actually unwilling to bear the responsibilities and changes it brings.

This "unwillingness" creates a conflict with the "prayer."

When the inner heart is not aligned with the prayer, the prayer cannot be accomplished.

So when Jesus said "whatever you wish," He emphasized:

What is prayed for must be what your inner heart truly desires, not something the head wants while the subconscious resists.

4. This passage is the general principle of "How to Sustain Belief" summarized by Jesus

In short:

  • Sustaining belief does not rely on willpower;
  • Sustaining belief is a state of "remaining in Jesus";
  • Let Jesus's words be the input source for the subconscious;
  • Let the prayer be completely consistent with the inner willingness.

Belief is not "holding back fear," nor is it "suppressing doubt."

Belief is dwelling in Jesus; Belief is letting Jesus's words dwell in you; Belief is an inner and outer consistency of willingness. When these three are aligned,

Belief exists naturally, continues naturally, and grows naturally.
